How to choose IPv4 proxies without overpaying
What is an IPv4 proxy
IPv4 is the main address format on the internet: every website, every app and every piece of automation software understands it. An IPv4 proxy is an intermediary with such an address: the site sees the IP of the proxy instead of your own.
Our IPv4 proxies are datacenter proxies, also known as DC proxies: the addresses belong to data centers, which makes them fast and stable. Each address is static — it stays the same for the entire rental period — and dedicated: one customer gets it, and nobody else uses it.
Dedicated (private) or shared proxies
Shared proxies are sold to several customers at once. You share the bandwidth and the address reputation with your neighbors: if one of them gets banned on a platform, the address is banned for you too. Dedicated proxies, also called private proxies, are assigned to you alone, so the history of the address is the history of your own work. Every IPv4 proxy at ipv.rent is dedicated.
IPv4 or residential: a simple rule
If a platform checks the network type — social networks, ad accounts, search results, large marketplaces — a datacenter address will quickly hit a captcha or a block there, and you need residential proxies. If what matters is speed, a permanent address and a fixed price at any traffic volume — scraping open sites, whitelists, Telegram, gaming — IPv4 is the better deal.
Why spoof the p0f fingerprint
Besides the IP, a site sees the parameters of the TCP connection: packet TTL, window size, TCP options. Anti-fraud systems use them to passively identify the operating system — a method known as p0f — and compare it with the one the browser reports. Data center servers run Linux, so a "Windows + Chrome" profile behind an ordinary datacenter proxy gives itself away with a mismatch.
At ipv.rent the fingerprint is spoofed for free: pick Windows, macOS or Android on the package page, and the connection parameters start matching the chosen system. You can change the profile or turn it off at any time.
UDP over SOCKS5: games, calls, QUIC
Most proxies only pass TCP. Online games, voice and video calls, and services built on the QUIC protocol need UDP. On our IPv4 proxies it works over SOCKS5 — the app has to be able to send UDP through a SOCKS5 proxy. Proxifier and Telegram Desktop, for example, can do that.
How to choose a country and rental period
Pick the country by the sites you work with: US services work more smoothly from a US IP, Russian ones from a Russian IP. The available addresses in each country are shown when you order, and the price is the same everywhere.
One or two weeks are enough to test a setup. For ongoing work a month is the better deal: at $1.49, it costs roughly a third as much per week as a weekly rental. Two- and three-month rentals cost exactly as much as two or three single months and spare you the extra renewals, while auto-renewal keeps the package from expiring at an awkward moment.
