Mobile proxies: how to choose and set them up
What is a mobile proxy
A mobile proxy goes online through a cellular carrier's network: websites see the address the carrier assigned to a modem with a SIM card — the same kind a subscriber's smartphone gets. Carriers share one external address among many subscribers, so platforms are reluctant to block mobile IPs: ordinary users would be caught in the ban.
At ipv.rent, a mobile proxy is your own port on a 4G/5G modem in the country of your choice. The port is assigned to you, and its address changes via the link, on the timer, or when the carrier itself gives the modem a new IP.
Mobile, residential or IPv4
If a platform strictly checks the network type and the address history — social networks, ad accounts, mobile apps — a mobile IP gets through best. Residential proxies give you a large pool of home addresses with targeting down to the city, billed by the gigabyte — handy for large-scale data collection. IPv4 proxies give you a permanent datacenter address with unlimited traffic at a low fixed price — a good fit for whitelists, Telegram and open sites.
How IP rotation works
Every port has an IP rotation link. A request to it starts the rotation, and 10–15 seconds later the port is back online with a new address. You can open the link at most once a minute: the modem needs time to reconnect to the carrier network.
If you need to change the IP regularly, turn on the timer on the port page and set an interval from 5 minutes to 24 hours. The link works without logging in to the dashboard, so you can call it from a script or with a button in your antidetect browser.
How to choose a country, carrier and rental period
Choose the country based on the platform's audience: an account is most at home on an address from the country where it was registered and where its followers live. Pick the carrier from those with available ports; if your accounts have already worked with a specific carrier, stick with it.
A day is enough to test a setup. For ongoing work, a month or three months is the better deal: in Spain a month costs $84.00, which works out to $2.80 a day versus $12.00 on a daily rental.
How to connect a mobile proxy
In the dashboard, each port shows its host, port number, login and password. HTTP and SOCKS5 are accepted on the same port: in your antidetect browser, bot or system settings, choose the protocol you need and enter these details. You can copy the connection string in the format your software expects.
You can reissue the password on the port page. The old one stops working immediately, and the new one is accepted within a few seconds — after a reissue, update the password in every program that uses the proxy.
